Lucy Chavez

Rosary services for Mrs. Lucia (Lucy) Chavez, age 70, will be held on Friday, July 29, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at the Cuervo Cemetery with her sons serving as Pallbearers. Lucy was born on September 19, 1946 in Santa Rosa to the home of Antonio and Mary (Madrid) Marquez. She peacefully passed away at her home on July 23, surrounded by her family. Lucy worked as a cook for many years at various restaurants, a waitress, nurse and dietician at the local hospital. She enjoyed knitting, reading, decoration her home for all the holidays and especially being around her grandchildren. She was a Parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Church and devoted her time to the St. Rose Charities for over 20 years. She also volunteered with the distributing of commodities for many years as well. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cecilio Chavez, her son Richard Chavez, her sister Rita Montoya and her brother Jo Jo Marquez. Survivors include her sons, Cecilio Chavez,Jr. and wife Charlene, John A. Chavez, Paul Chavez, Adam Chavez and wife Jana all of Santa Rosa, her brothers Benny Marquez of Santa Rosa and Eddy Marquez of Michigan along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
