A luncheon in memory of Carroll Brumley will be held from 11:30 - 1:30 on June 24, 2017 at Fred's Restaurant. His friends are invited to come and share a meal and memories of Carroll Brumley. Mr. John Carroll Brumley age 89 of Taiban, NM passed away at his home on Thursday, May 25, 2017. He was born January 18, 1928 in Clarendon, Texas to the home of Rolle and Imogene (Morman) Brumley. Mr. Brumley attended Texas Christian University and New Mexico State University where he received his Bachelor Science degree. He married Sally Brumley in 1955 in Wichita, KS. His lifetime was spent as a rancher, horseman, horse breeder, and cattle buyer. According to his family he liked to fly fish, play tennis, team pinning, roping, working cattle, raising quarter horses, trading cattle, and talking business - talking cattle and the cattle markets, betting on football games. How many of you lost a bet to dad? His son, Hank lost his last bet to his dad. He took the New England Patriots in the Super Bowl. He was a member of National Quarter Horse Association, and National Cattlemen Association. Mr. Brumley loved Fort Sumner and all the people here. His family says thank you for how warm and friendly you were to Mr. Brumley. He enjoyed driving to Fred's and Rodeo Grill and Melrose Tire every day for lunch. He knew Fort Sumner was his last stop and was very happy to be here. His family thanks everyone for embracing a true Texas Cowboy. Mr. Brumley is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sally, and a sister Shirley Hickman. Survivors include three sons Hank and his wife Brigitte of Littleton, CO, Harry and his wife Jessica of Fort Lauderdale, FL, and Rusty of Houston, TX. Two granddaughters Jacqueline and husband Paul of Castle Rock, CO, and Sage of Fort Lauderdale, FL, two grandsons Peter and wife Nikki of Littleton, CO, and Turk of Houston, TX, one great grandson Odinn of Castle Rock, CO.
