The Lord called our beloved mother, Stella M. Romero, to Heaven on Monday, May 1, 2017. She was 88 years. She was born to Abran and Beatrice Gallegos in 1928 and was married to Isidro Romero for 58 years. Stella, alongside Isidro, owned and operated several businesses including ranches for over 50 years. Her first and foremost devotion was to her family. She especially cared for and enjoyed her grandchildren and great grand children. They loved to have her cook their favorite foods. Mom was a kind, gentle, patient and softspoken person who cared for everyone. To meet Mom was to know her; her positive spirit never changed. She was smart, accomplished, repectful, dignified and humble at all times. She loved and enjoyed getting together with her sisters, whose’s adventures always caused Mom to laugh until she cried. She was such a wonderful cook that people from around the country often came back to see her and enjoy her cooking again. In her younger years, Mom was also physically agile and could easily walk on her hands, doing cartwheels and summersaults. She taught us how to dance and had a great sense of humor. Mom was an inspiration to all of us all for raising six children, while running the businesses and taking care of Isidro through all his surgeries and service to the people of Guadalupe County. She never tired and did it all with a smile. She was everything the good Lord asks of us here and she will be deeply missed. Stella was preceded in death by Isidro, her husband and Bazan, her son. She is survived by her sons, Tito, Henry and Rigo (Barbara) Romero and daughters Linda and Pauline (Jose) Debasa; 10 grandchildren, 17 great grand children and 6 great great grandchildren. Rosary will be held on Friday, May 5, at 10:00 AM with Memorial Mass to follow from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa followed by a reception at the Blue Hole Convention Center and her ashes will then be laid to rest at the family ranch near Pastura, N.M. All services for Mrs. Romero have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa. To palce an online condolece please visit our website at www.chavezfuneralhome.com
