Juan F. Maestas

Juan F. Maestas, age 72, passed away on April 21, 2017 at his residence in Dilia following an illness. Juan was born on July 20, 1944 in Anton Chico to the home of Juan and Estelita (Lucero) Maestas. Juan worked as a meat cutter at a meat packing plant in Colorado for many years until he returned back to Anton Chico. He loved visiting and reminiscing with his patrons at the Maestas Bar in Dilia. He is preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Mario Maestas, his son Mario Castillo, his brothers and sisters, Lillie Perea, Jose Maestas, Clara Williams, Livie Maestas, Richard Maestas, Leroy Maestas and Gale Lueras. Survivors include his daughter Antoinette Maestas and Issac of Anton Chico, his sons, Gino Castillo and wife Lucy of Littleton, CO, Marty Castillo of Pueblo, CO, his granddaughter Shanika Lucero and husband Kevin of Anton Chico, his grandson Vince Castillo of Tennessee, brothers and sisters, Marcella Aragon of Texas, Alfred Maestas and wife Cathy of Albuquerque, Christy Maestas of Albuquerque, Yolanda Maestas of South Dakota, great grandchildren Ava Rose Lucero, Harper Lucero as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Cremation has taken place and a rosary will be recited on Wednesday, April 26, at 6:00 PM from San Jose Church in Anton Chico. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, April 27, at 11:00 AM also from San Jose Church with Father Antonio Mondragon officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at the San Jose Cemetery also in Anton Chico. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Brian Maestas, Marvin Maestas, Anthony Maestas, Alfred Maestas, Jr, Kevin Lueras, Joseph Perea, Jamie Aragon, Kevin Lucero, Romie Maestas, Joshua Maestas, Remi Cordova and Vince Armijo.
