Filandro Inez Sandoval

Filandro Inez Sandoval, Sr., age 87, lifetime resident of Anton Chico, NM passed away at John Connally Medical Center in Floresville, TX on April, 11, 2017. He was born in Dahlia, NM on February 27, 1930 to the late Federico Sandoval, Sr. and Maria Devari Gallegos Sandoval. He married Merlinda Baca in 1950. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers; Blas, Federico Jr., and Transito; Sisters, Pabla Montoya, Abelina Nelson, Nora Urioste, and Eulalia Roybal; nephews Isidro Nelson, Herman Nelson, Joyce Nelson Cordova, and Vidal Roybal; Grandson, Gregory Chavez, and son, Filandro Sandoval, Jr. He is survived by his wife Merlinda Sandoval; six daughters, Nadine (Harry Chavez), Mary Magdalen (Don Guerin), Caroline (Rick Flores), Noel (Don Smith), Audrey (Mike Rodgers), and Bernadette (Lorenzo Herrera); fourteen grandchildren, James Munoz (Amber), Antonio Chavez (Amber), Jason Guerin (Kelly), Julie Sandoval Koch (Kevin), Danielle Guerin, Robert Parson (Essie), Ricky Flores (Shelby), Loren Herrera, Jr., Dakota Smith, Josh Flores, Mackenzie Smith, Jenna Sandoval, Mariah Rodgers, and Britney Herrera; eleven greatgrandchildren, Adriana Munoz, Helena Chavez, Rico Munoz, Christian Chavez, Jake Guerin, Jaime Munoz, Natalie Guerin, Colin Guerin, Elias Munoz, Ryker Herrera, and Kate Guerin; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Filandro was a farmer and rancher and served over 22 years as treasurer for the Anton Chico Land Grant. A rosary will be recited at 11am Monday, April 17, 2017 at San Jose Parish in Anton Chico, NM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will be in the San Jose cemetery in Anton Chico. Father Antonio Mondragon will officiate. Pall bearers will include James Munoz, Antonio Chavez, Jason Guerin, Julie Sandoval Koch, Robert Parson, Josh Flores, Lorenzo Herrera, Jr., and Dakota Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be his grand and great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in memory of Filandro to San Jose Parish in Anton Chico.
