Jennie Valeria Waddill, 94 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Monday, January 9, 2017 at Clovis Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center following an illness. She was born January 31, 1922 in Yarrow, Missouri to the home of Ira Elsworth Barnhill and the former Mary Louisa Daharsh. She grew up in Kirksville, MO where she attended schools. Jennie married George William Waddill. They made their home in Fort Sumner in 1952 where George was a longtime educator with Fort Sumner Schools. Jennie was a housewife and home maker, she baby sat for many years and was a loving mother and grandmother. She was a long time member of the Fort Sumner Womans Club. Survivors include four children, two sons, George Waddill Jr. of Hallet, OK, Stephen Waddill of Jacksonville, FL, twin daughters, Karen Petersen of Fort Sumner, NM and Sharon Petersen of Farmington, NM, also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren along with two sisters Martha Barnhill and Jean Kearns both of Kirksville, MO along with several nieces and nephews other relatives and many good friends and neighbors. Jennie is preceded in death by her husband George W. Waddill 2001, her parents Ira and Mary Barnhill, brothers Evert Barnhill, Raymond Barnhill, Earl Barnhill, Thomas Barnhill, Roy Barnhill and two sisters: Belle Vande, Nada Yadon Cremation will take place, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
