Pablo Catarino Chavez Jr.

Pablo Chavez Jr., 83 a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa passed away at his home Thursday, October 20, 2016 following an illness. Pablo was born February 20, 1933 in Santa Rosa to the home of Pablo Chavez Sr., and Gomicinda Rivera. He attended schools in Santa Rosa. Pablo married Maria Lucy Chavez on June 13, 1954 in Santa Rosa. Pablo was a lifelong construction worker, he worked road construction and building construction. He was a very talented rock mason. He built his home that includes two rock fireplaces made of stone hand picked in Puerto De Luna. Pablo was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Paul Chavez Jr., on January 17, 1977, and two brothers Jimmy Chavez, and Eddie Chavez. Survivors include his wife Lucy Chavez of the home in Santa Rosa, two sons Joe Catarino Chavez of Riveraville, NM and Patrick Paul Chavez of Santa Rosa, two grandchildren Joseph Paul Baca of Santa Rosa, Adrian Chacon and wife Berna of Albuquerque and a great grandson Devan Chacon of Albuquerque. Also surviving are two brothers Wilfred Chavez and wife Liria of Santa Rosa, Sammy Chavez and wife Mary Ann of San Diego, CA, and a sister Viola Puchi and husband Letro of Santa Rosa along with a numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held on Sunday, October 23, at 6:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Mass of Christian Burial will be be celebrated on Monday, October 24, at 10:00 AM also from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be Chris Baca, Matthew Baca, Ricky Chavez, Albert Chavez, Bobby Chavez and Cecilio Lopez.
