Rita Olivas

Heaven has gained another Angel. Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend went home to our Lord on Thursday, August 25, 2016. Rita Valeria Olivas was born on November 27, 1945, to John Martinez Sr. and Dora Garcia-Martinez in Santa Rosa NM. She attended schools in Santa Rosa and was a graduate of Santa Rosa High School. She was united in Marriage to John Olivas on August 6, 1966, and made her home in California since then. She worked many years as a manager for Denny’s Restaurants and was also employed as a State Police dispatcher, and was an accountant for the Job Corp. In 1987 Rita and her husband John became owners of Rosston Barber College where she taught for many years. She is preceded in death by her father John, mother Dora and niece Luana Martinez-Sena. Rita is survived by her husband John, Jacob a grandson whom she raised, her son John Olivas Jr. and wife McKenna and two grandsons, her brother John Martinez Jr, her sister Celina Sierra and husband Ralph, nieces and nephews Steve Martinez (Chris), Veronica Maestas (Geno), Sharon Martinez-Redelman(Rick), Vincent Martinez, Casey Martinez (Carolyn), Juanita Wooton (Sean) all whom she loved very much; as well as extended family and friends. A rosary followed by the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday September 2, 2016 at 9am at St Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa NM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in the family plot. Serving as Pallbearers will be her nieces and nephews. All Arrangements have been entrusted to Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
