Joann M. Chavez, 59 of Vaughn, NM passed away unexpectedly at her home early Sunday morning, August 14, 2016. She was born April 8, 1957 in Duran, NM to the home of Guadalupe and Dionesia (Jaramillo) Madril. Joann grew up in Duran, she attended schools in Duran and Encino. She married Margarito Chavez on June 12, 1976 in Vaughn. Joann worked as a caregiver for Victory Home Health for the past 8 years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn and a member of Sacred Heart Society in Duran. A loving wife, mother, and sister she will be missed by her family. Joann enjoyed cooking, crocheting, visiting the casino, baking especially during the Holidays, spending time with family and friends, shopping, listening to NM music, and drinking her coffee. Joann is preceded in death by her parents, an infant son Ambrosio Chavez, a grandson Santiago Monsivais, two brothers Samuel Madril, and Liberato Madril, a sister Cornelia Madril, a sister in law Amelia Madril, two nephews Joseph Madril, and Ralph Chavez Jr., mother and father in law Ceria and Ambrosio Chavez, and a brother in law Venancio Baca. She is survived by her husband Margarito Chavez of the home in Vaughn, a son Adam Chavez and his wife Erika of El Paso, TX, and a daughter Antoinette Chavez of Vaughn. Two grandchildren Cinthia Rodriguez and Paola Rodriguez and one great-grandchild Isabella Monsivais all of El Paso. Sisters Augustina Archibeque and husband Richard of Belen, Berna Encinias and husband Grable, Mary Gonzales and husband Billy of Clovis, Eloisa Marez and husband Richard of Albuquerque, Diane Mirabal and husband Michael Sr. of Tularosa, Norma Marez and husband Clario Sr. of Sedillo, brothers Jose Madril and companion Josie Martinez of Duran, Albert Madril and wife Cyndy of Chaparral, Pablo Madril of Albuquerque, Johnny Madril and wife Lucy of Hobbs, and a sister in law Andrea Madril of Alamogordo, along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. A rosary will be recited at 10am Wednesday, August 17, 2016 from St. Mary's Catholic Church followed by the funeral Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Vaughn, NM with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Pallbearers will be Steve Archibeque, Alejandro Marez, Clario Marez Jr., Michael Mirabal, Mathew Mirabal, Chris Madril, Adrian Marez, Andrew Madril, Gerald Encinias, Steven Chavez, Jude Villanueva, Paola Rodriguez, Jason Gonzales, and Anthony Gonzales.
