Bobby R. Lucero 62 a longtime resident of Fort Sumner passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at his home in in Las Vegas, NM. Bobby was born February 14, 1954 in Fort Sumner to the home of Frank Sr. and Rosa Lopez Lucero. Bobby attended Fort Sumner schools. He enlisted and served in the U.S. Army, he was honorably discharged on September 10, 1973. Bobby was a disabled U.S. Army Veteran. He was well liked by his neighbors and always willing to help them with chores. He loved animals and spending time with his family and friends. Bobby made his home in Fort Sumner for many years before moving to Clovis in 1986 and Las Vegas in 2005. He is preceded in death by his father Frank Lucero Sr., a brother Johnny Joe Lucero and a nephew Johnny Joe Lucero, his paternal grandparents Alfredo and Camila Lucero, and his maternal grandparents Aurelio and Riatos Lopez. Survivors include a son Phillip and wife Antoinette Lucero of Clovis and a daughter Jolene Lucero of Clovis, his mother Rosa Lucero of Clovis, a brother Frank Lucero Jr. of Clovis, and four sisters Mary Jane Finnell of Clovis, Nancy Lopez of Portales, Josie Lucero of Clovis, and Alice Zambrano of Clovis along with 7 grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Visitation hours will be Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 7pm Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at St. Anthony Catholic Church. The funeral Mass will be held at the church at 10am Thursday, May 26, 2016 with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers are Aurelio Lopez, Leonard Zamora, Joseph Lopez, Abel Lopez, Bobby Lopez, Gerald Lopez, and Frankie Lucero. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
