Rosary services for Agneda L. Chavez will be held on Saturday, April 16, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church with Mass of Christian Burial to follow with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Mario Lucero, Carlos Chavez, Eric Chavez, Peter Padilla, Jeffery Chavez and Jose Maestas. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the rest of Agenda’s grandchildren. Agneda passed away on April 13, at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales. She was born on September 20, 1920 in Borica, NM to the home of Leopoldo and Tomasita (Duran) Lucero. She married Eloy Chavez on May 5, 1947 in Santa Rosa. Agneda was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish where she was active in Las Hijas de Maria and The Altar Society. She enjoyed taking care of her kids and grandkids, she loved to cook, watch TV especially the series “Dallas” and she loved music and dancing. Agneda worked as a cook at several restaurants, she was a housekeeper, a home health provider and also worked at the Dairy Bar. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by all. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eloy, her great granddaughter Amanda Bueno, her son in law Gerald Baca and her brothers and sisters. Survivors include her children, Max Lucero and wife Dolores of Santa Rosa, Isabel Chavez and husband Joe of Albuquerque, Erminio Chavez and wife Corrine of Santa Rosa, Julia Padilla and husband Mele of Santa Rosa, Jane Baca of Santa Rosa, Geraldine Youngs and husband Mike of Corpus Christi, TX and Jeff Chavez and wife Rhonda of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 44 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren along with a host of relatives and friends.
