Agnes Pauline Sánchez (Sánchez) died peacefully in her home on March 30, 2016 in Las Cruces, NM at the age of 89. Agnes was born on August 20, 1926 in Dahlia, NM to Marcelina and Rodolfo Sánchez. She graduated from Santa Rosa High School as Salutatorian in 1944 and later attended college at NM Highlands University. Agnes was the first in her family to attend college. She married Albert on August 12, 1946 in Santa Rosa. Agnes was a devout Catholic, a devoted wife and a source of constant support for her husband Albert. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She encouraged and nurtured her five children in their personal and educational pursuits. Agnes dedicated her life to her family and she positively impacted each member in special ways, from establishing meaningful family traditions, to sharing her time and faith with all the children and grandchildren. She spent a majority of her adult life as a resident of Santa Rosa, NM. She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert N. Sánchez, her grandson Vincent J. Sánchez, infant grandson Robert Sánchez, her parents Marcelina and Rudolfo Sánchez, her sisters Seferina Sánchez, Annie Casaus (and husband Manuel), Celia Pino (and husband Joe), Pelagia Garcia (and husband Nicacio), brothers Benny Sánchez (and wife Rosa), Anselmo Sánchez (and wife Josie), son-in-law Robert Brandl, son-in-law Zell Cantrell, and brother-in-law Tony Gallegos. Agnes is survived by her children Albert Thomas Sánchez and wife Christine, Christine Sánchez-Cantrell, Robert Sánchez and daughter-in-law Josie Sánchez, Patrick Sánchez and wife Mary Parr-Sánchez, Lawrence Sánchez and wife Lisa, sisters Terry Gallegos, MaryAnne Weide and husband Dennis, grandchildren Gregory, Margaret and husband Jim Maes, Melissa and husband Robert Galaz, Rebecca, Marcela and husband Matthew Aguilar, Robert Jr., Maricela and husband Adrian Galaz, Erin and husband Kueyson Yee, Patrick Thomas, Kathryn, Laura, Jacqueline, and great-grandchildren: Christopher, Victoria, Daniela, Sophia, Catalina, Monica, Mireya, Damien, Abigail, Ava, Abraham, Ashley, Amanda, Juda, Melanie and dozens of nieces, nephews and cousins. A Rosary will be prayed in her honor at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, New Mexico, followed by a funeral Mass at 1:00 p.m. Father Sotero Sena will celebrate the funeral Mass. The burial ceremony will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Santa Rosa, NM. Pallbearers will be Gregory Sánchez, Robert Sánchez, Jr., Patrick T. Sánchez, Christopher Sánchez, Mark Gallegos, and Stephan Vega. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Agnes's life. All services have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
