Virginia Harden

Virginia Carol Harden 70 of Lake Sumner, NM passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. She was born November 15, 1945 in Wellington, Texas to the home of Roy and Mary (Blades) Roberts. She attended and graduated from Wellington High School. She worked for many years as a cotton field inspector in Wellington. She married A.J. Harden in 1962 in Marriage Ville, California. Virginia and A.J. traveled across the country when he worked as a truck driver. During her lifetime she made her home in Wellington, TX, Dixon, Missouri and Fort Sumner where they operated a hamburger stand for several years. Virginia was a member of The Church on The Hill, and the Fraternal Order of Eagles. She loved spending time with her family. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, a son Shane Harden in 1965, daughter Candy Harden in 2012, and a brother Dub Roberts in 2012. Survivors include her husband A.J. Harden of Lake Sumner, NM, a son Tommy Harden and wife Staci of Moriarty, a brother Tommy Roberts and wife Sandi of Santa Barbara, CA, three sisters Cindi Messina of Lebanon, OR, Pam Primasing and husband Rick of Lebanon, OR, Theresa Stagall and husband Fred of La Grange, CA, a grandson Aaron Harden of Fort Sumner, two granddaughters Candy Jo Webb of Artesia, and Breese Harden of Moriarty, one great-grandson Kyler Mechals of Lebanon, OR along with a host of other family and friends. No funeral services are planned. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street, Fort Sumner, NM. (575) 355-2311.
