Gilbert Tenorio, 92 of Encino, NM passed away March 6, 2016 at Rio At Las Estancias, in Albuquerque following an illness. He was born November 6, 1923 in La Palma to the home of Miguel and Beatrice (Garcia) Tenorio. He attended and graduated from Encino Schools in 1944. Gilbert retired in 1986 from the Torrance County Road Department after 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, a volunteer with Encino Fire Department, served on the Encino Village Council, and the Encino School Board. Gilbert enjoyed deer hunting, and arrowhead hunting. Gilbert is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Carolyn I. Tenorio, grandson Michael Edward Tenorio, and granddaughter Amanda Tenorio. He is survived by six children, four sons Gerald Tenorio (Mary) of Encino, Edward Tenorio (Margie) of Moriarty, Jake Tenorio (Deborah) of Encino, Curt Tenorio (Natalie) of Edgewood, two daughters Yolanda Lopez (Chris) of Stanley, Barbara Sena (Clarence) of Texico, Also surviving are four sisters Rita Sisneros of Belen, Josie Buenabenta of Bernalillo, Terry Lovato of Mountainair, and Mary Padilla of Belen, one brother Robert Tenorio (Molly) of Albuquerque, along with 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Viewing and visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the services. Services will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Encino. A rosary will be recited Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at 9:30 am followed by the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Encino Catholic Cemetery with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Pallbearers will be Jamil Hindi and grandsons Zachary Tenorio, Daniel Tenorio, Michael Tenorio, Jacob Tenorio, Jason Tenorio, Joshua Sparks, and Julian Lopez, Honorary bearers will be all his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. All services for Mr. Tenorio have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral home of Santa Rosa.
