Services for Eva Annette Chavez, 49 of Fort Sumner, NM will be held at 10am, Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at The Church on The Hill, burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery with Rev. Anna Teeter-Gentile officiating. Pallbearers will include Caleb Terrell, Cory Terrell, Derrick Terrell, Samuel Baltazar, Juan Baltazar, and Timothy Mascarenas. Honorary bearers will be the staff at Options Health Care and all her family and friends. Visitation hours will be Monday, July 20, 2015 from 1-6pm at the funeral home. Eva Annette Chavez passed away Monday, July 13, 2015 at Rio Rancho Care & Rehabilitation Center following an illness. She was born April 14, 1966 in St. Louis, MO. She attended school in Pacific, MO and Las Cruces, NM. She attended Freedom High School in Las Cruces and one year at NMSU. Eva made her home in Fort Sumner in 1994, she worked for several years as a caregiver and home health provider. She was a member of The Church on The Hill. She enjoyed cooking, watching cooking shows, playing bingo, shopping, visiting with family and friends and riding motorcycles. She is preceded in death by a sister DeAnna S. Foster in 2012, three uncles Justo Lopez, Richard Lopez, and Isaac Lopez, her maternal grandparents Max and Lilly Lopez. Survivors include a son Aaron Chavez of Fort Sumner, her mother Maria "LaLa" Garcia of Fort Sumner, her father Ernesto Chavez Sr. and his wife Mary of St. Clair, MO, and a brother Ernesto Chavez II and his wife Gina of Fort Sumner.
