Viola Gutierrez

A rosary for Viola Gutierrez will be recited at 6pm Sunday, July 5, 2015 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Mass will be celebrated at 11am Monday, July 6th with burial to follow at Saint Anthony Catholic Cemetery with Father Christopher Bernabe officiating. Pallbearers include Dominic Maldonado Jr., Tomas Gutierrez Jr., Reve Segura, Robert Gutierrez, Brandon Chavez, Michael Gutierrez, Luis Gutierrez Jr., and Guillermo Gutierrez. Honorary bearers will be all her grandchildren. Viola S. Gutierrez, 84 of Fort Sumner, NM was born July 19, 1930 in Fort Sumner to the home of Reymundo and Inez (Lopez) Sena, she passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2015 in Fort Sumner. She grew up in Fort Sumner and attended Fort Sumner Schools. Viola married Jose Pedro Gutierrez on January 3, 1947 in Fort Sumner. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, prayed the rosary every morning and enjoyed listening to NM music, dancing, visiting with her friends and helping her family whenever they had a need. The family will miss her Ash Wednesday and Good Friday meals of chile con torta, sopa, beans and quelites. Viola is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jose Pedro, four infant children, a son Robert Gutierrez, a brother Eugene Sena, and three sisters Benerita Sena, Manuela Nieto, and Benerita Roybal. Survivors include her children, three sons Tomas Gutierrez (Mabel) of Albuquerque, Lewis Gutierrez of Fort Sumner, and Andy Gutierrez (Krystal) of Carlsbad; three daughters Ruby Martinez (Benito) of Los Lunas, Diana Segura (Lorenzo), and Isabel Chavez of Fort Sumner, three brothers George "Beve" Sena (Gloria) of Fort Sumner, Daniel Sena (Emma) of Clovis, and Eloy Sena (Patricia) of Albuquerque, three sisters Victoriana Salguero (Pino) of Albuquerque, Odelia Marrujo (Pablo)of Albuquerque, and Celina Lopez of Roswell, also surviving are 18 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
