Rosary services for Mrs. Juanita Garza were held on Friday, May 9, at 2:30 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church followed by the Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Father Thomas Kayammakal. Burial followed at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers were Alex Chavez, Steven Chavez, Lucas Garza, Bennie Garza, Brandon Chavez and Gabriel Garza. Juanita passed away peacefully on May 8, 2014 at the Rio Rancho Rehab Nursing Center after an illness. She was born on February 5, 1922 in Juan De Dios, NM to the home of Sotero and Antonia (Valencia) Chavez. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Juanita married Lucas Garza on December 26, 1939 in Santa Rosa. She was a Parishioner at the Church of Incarnation in Rio Rancho and a member of the Sacred Heart Association. She enjoyed baking, reading, sewing, her family pictures, her plants and spending time with her children and grandchildren. Juanita was a loving mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by her family and friends. Juanita is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lucas Garza, her son Federico Garza, grandson George Campos and son in law Gene Chavez. Survivors include her children Paula Campos and husband Carlos of Hobbs, NM, Fred S. Garza and wife Libby of Fort Sumner, Toni Chavez and husband David of Rio Rancho, Alice Chavez of Bernalillo, Gene Garza and wife Martha of Santa Rosa, Joaquin Garza of Rio Rancho and Veronica Perea and husband John of Santa Rosa. Also surviving is her sister Florinda Lamborn of California, 5 brothers and 3 sisters in the Clovis area, 16 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
