Rose M. Perea

Services for Rose M. Perea, 63 of Santa Rosa will be held Friday, April 25, 2014 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, the rosary will begin at 11am followed by the funeral Mass. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery with Father Thomas officiating. Pallbearers will be her nephews Phillip Gage, K.J. Flores, Juan Perea, Zeke Sena, Anthony Moncayo, Joseph Lopez II, Lawrence Sanchez, Ronnie Gage, and Derrick Saiz. Honorary bearers will be all her remaining nieces and nephews.Rose M. Perea passed away  April 23, 2014 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. She was born  December 8, 1950 in Santa Rosa to the home of Juan de Dios and Manuela (Gonzales) Perea. She was raised in Santa Rosa and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1969. She worked as a teller for 16 years at First National Bank, moved to Alaska for one year where she managed a hotel. She made her home in Albuquerque for a few years where she was employed by Shaw Associates before returning to Santa Rosa where she worked as the Activities Coordinator for the Sure House for three years. Her dream was to own and operate a flower shop and in 1987 she opened and operated La Floreria flower shop, for 22 years, and managed the Delicioso Deli in downtown Santa Rosa. She continued to operate the business until 2009 when an illness made the day to day operation impossible.Rose was a lifelong Catholic and an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, she was a member of the St. Rose of Lima Church Choir, the Altar Soceity, and a member of the St. Rose of Lima Restoration Committee. She was also active in her community with the Santa Rosa Chamber of Commerce and the Main Street Committee. She enjoyed reading, embroidering, and quilting.Rose is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Mela Perea, a brother Gilbert Perea, and two sisters Adelina Lopez, and Maria Ida Perea.She was a loving sister, aunt, and friend and will be missed by her family. She is survived by eight siblings, two brothers John (Veronica) Perea of Santa Rosa, Richard (Julia) Perea of Santa Rosa, six sisters Dilly Ulibarri of Santa Rosa, Jane (Reyes) Sanchez of Las Vegas, NM, Gloria (Ron) Gage of Santa Rosa, Lucy (Ken) Flores of Santa Rosa, Barbara (Earl) Sena of Santa Rosa, and Betty Jo Moncayo of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear friends.All services for Rose Perea have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home, 923 South 3rd Street, Santa Rosa, NM  575 472-3369.
