Paul Chavez, age 67, passed away April 14, 2014 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Paul was born on January 3, 1947 in Santa Rosa to the home of Juanita Chavez. He was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa. Paul worked as a cook for various restaurants and also as a bartender in Santa Rosa for many years. He enjoyed visiting with his friends and being outdoors. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Nicholas and Carlota Chavez, his brother Fred Garcia and Aunt Josefita Contreras. Survivors include his mother Juanita Chavez, his step-father Joe Garcia, his siblings Billy Chavez and wife Tina, Charlotte Martin and husband George, Virginia Jesus, Cristina Garcia, Michael Garcia, John Garcia, Eugene Garcia and wife Donna all of Stockton, CA, Uncle Estolano Chavez of Las Vegas, NM, Aunt Zenaida Contreras of Stockton, CA, Uncle Mere Romero and wife Mary of Santa Rosa and his cousin Natali Tenorio and husband Joe of Santa Rosa. Also surviving is his friend Christine Beverage of Santa Rosa as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins in New Mexico and California. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 22, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church with Father Thomas Kayammakal officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be William Chavez, Michael Garcia, Louie Chavez, Wayne Chavez, Joe Tenorio and Eddie Baros. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Contreras, Ted Orlando Mata, Fermin Gutierrez and Raymundo Pacheco.
