Mary C. Salazar, age 87, passed away at her granddaughters residence in Albuquerque following an illness. Mary was born on May 4, 1926 in Puerto De Luna, NM. She was reared and attended schools in Puerto De Luna and Santa Rosa. Mary worked as a manager for the Gambles store in Santa Rosa for many years; she also was a waitress at the Club Café and the Frontier Restaurant located east of Santa Rosa. Mary moved to California in 1969 and worked For ITT General Control as a line inspector for 25 years. She came back to Santa Rosa in 1993 where she started working with the Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools as a Grandma. As a Grandma, she loved her generations of children that she taught. She enjoyed all kinds of music, being around her grandchildren and great grandchildren and having her cup of coffee at Josephs Restaurant. Recently Mary had a role in the movie “Bless Me Ultima”, something that she was so proud of. Mary was a hard worker and supported her whole family. She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Santos and Juanita Salazar, her parents Luis and Castula Salazar and several brothers and sisters. Survivors include her son Dwayne Salazar and wife Janet of Puerto de Luna, Veronica Lieffring and husband Bob of Valencia, CA, her grandchildren, Jessica Vigil of Albuquerque, Dean Salazar and Fiance Stephanie Marquez of Puerto De Luna, Aaron Salazar also of Puerto De Luna, her great grandchildren Michael Tenorio and Alexis Rodgers. Also surviving are her sisters, Lupe Castorena of Muleshoe, TX and Ida Luna of Clovis, NM along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and Relative. Rosary services will be held on Friday, April 4, at 7:00 from the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 5, at 10:00 AM from Nuestra Senora de Refugio Church in Puerto De Luna with Father Thomas Kayammakal officiating. Burial will follow at El Calvario Cemetery in Puerto De Luna. Serving as Pallbearers will be Dwayne Salazar, Dean Salazar, Aaron Salazar, Bob Lieffring, Michael Tenorio and Daniel Tenorio.
