Bersabe Villanueva

Bersabe R. Villanueva, age 90, passed away on March 4, 2014 at the AltaVista Hospital in Las Vegas, NM following an illness. Bersabe was born on April 23, 1923 in Tecolotito, NM to the home of Steven and Rosa (Baca) Romero. Bersabe was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Anton Chico and the Anton Chico Land Grant. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, making blankets and canning food. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Cipriano Villanueva, Sr., her infant children, Rosa Aniceta, Jose Guadalupe as well as an infant son and daughter, her sons Max Villanueva, David Villanueva and her daughter in law Merlinda Villanueva. Survivors include her children, Joe Villanueva and wife Florence of Clines Corners, Enrique Villanueva and wife Mary Ellen of Aztec, NM, Rose Smith of Indiana, Gabby Velasquez and husband Max of Santa Rosa, Cipriano Villanueva, Jr. and wife Loretta of Anton Chico, Manuel Villanueva and wife Carla of Tecolotito, Alice Chavez and husband Ronnie of Wagon Wheel, Cecilio Villanueva of Anton Chico, Katy Gallegos and husband Jim of Santa Fe and Becky Chavez and Boyfriend Michael of Moriarty. Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Friday, March 7, at 7:00 PM from St. Joseph Church in Anton Chico. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 8, at 1:00 PM also from St. Joseph Church with Father Antonio Mondragon officiating. Serving as Pallbearers will be Neil Villanueva, Michael Velasquez, Estevan Villanueva, Joseph Villanueva, Jimmy Gallegos and Cecilio Villanueva. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be her sons.
