Martha Theresa Cardona, 64 of Lubbock, TX passed away Monday, February 24, 2014 at University Medical Center in Lubbock following an illness. Martha was born July 17, 1949 in Lubbock the daughter of Nieves and Beatrice (Garcia) Pena. She grew up in Lubbock where she attended High School. She was a member of St. John's The Apostle Parish and the Ladies Auxiliary, she also served as a C.C.D teacher at the church. Martha enjoyed reading. Martha is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters Mary Helen Gonzales in 2012 and her twin sister Viola Griego in 2009. She is survived by two daughters Amy Wilson and her husband Matt of Alvord, TX, Melissa Cardona and Chris of Euless, TX, five brothers Freddy Pena and wife Raye, Rudy Pena and wife Daleane, Felix Pena, Gilbert Pena, and Joe David Pena all of Lubbock, TX and one sister Lori Ann Bishop and her husband Eddie of Georgia. Other survivors include 6 grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. A rosary will be recited at 6pm Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Mass will be celebrated at 10am Thursday, February 27, 2014 from the church with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Daniel Pena, Stevie Salguero, Simon Lucero, Michael Lucero, Justin Garza, and Nick Lucero. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
