A rosary for Greg Romero will be recited at 6pm Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10am Thursday, February 27, 2014 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Milagro, NM with Father Thomas Kayammakal officiating. Burial will follow in Our Lady of Sorrow's Cemetery. Visitation hours will be Wednesday from 11am to 5pm at the funeral home. Greg Pablo Romero, 65 of Santa Rosa, NM passed away February 24, 2014 at the Guadalupe County Hospital following an illness. Greg was born August 25, 1948 in Milagro, NM to the home of Paublin and Cleotilde (Armijo) Romero. He was raised in Milagro and attended school in Santa Rosa. After high school Greg worked as a cowboy for the Willis Cattle Company. He later moved to Amarillo where he worked for Pepsi Cola Bottling Company and for Iowa Beef Processing Packing House. He also worked road construction for many years. Greg was a member of St. Rose of Lima and Our Lady of Sorrow's Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, was an accomplished guitarist and spent many hours playing his guitar. Greg is preceded in death by a daughter Elizabeth Ortega, his father Paublin Romero Sr., his mother Cleotilde A. Romero, three sisters Veneranda Tapia, Dora Garnand, and Liria Encinias; three brothers Isidro Romero, Paublin Romero Jr, and Trinnie Romero. Survivors include his wife Esther Romero of Santa Rosa, a son Greg Romero Jr., of Albuquerque, three brothers Pete (Debbie) Romero of Milagro, Wilfred (Rhonda) Romero of Hereford, TX, Leroy (Darlene) Bonney of Santa Rosa, three sisters Rita (Leo Sr.) Muniz of Milagro, Sally (Henry) Saiz of Fort Sumner, and Joel (Bill) Johnson of Santa Rosa. Also surviving are three grandchildren Alyssa Ortega, Andrew Ortega, and Bobby Ortega all of Albuquerque along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Serving as Pallbearers will be Melissa Madrid, Leo Muniz, Jr., Wilfred Romero, Jose Federico, Dwayne Velasquez, Bill Johnson, Antonio Cordova and Leroy Bonney.
