Billy J. Rodriguez

William Jesus "Billy" Rodriguez, 43 of Fort Sumner, NM passed away Friday, January 24, 2014 at his home. He was born January 14, 1971 in Hondo, Texas. He was raised in Sabinal, Texas before moving to Fort Sumner in 1980 at the age of 9. He attended Fort Sumner schools and graduated in 1989. He participated in football while in high school. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. Billy worked as a heavy equipment operator for James Hamilton Construction, K. Barnett Construction and most recently with Scott Marshall Construction. Billy was a loving father, he enjoyed spending time with his son, fishing and bike riding. Billy is preceded in death by his father Manuel Jesus Davis-Rodriguez in 2008, his maternal grandmother Lauteria Pacheco in 2010, maternal grandfather Florentino Serna in 1966 and his Paternal grandparents Andres and Isabel Rodriguez. He is survived by a son William Jesus "Jesse" Rodriguez of the home in Fort Sumner, his mother Mary Madrid and husband Alex of Fort Sumner, two sisters Regina Gonzales and husband Nick of San Antonio, Texas, Christy Drake and husband Brian of La Lande, NM, a brother Vincent Rodriguez and his wife Erma of Fort Sumner. Also surviving are eight nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and many friends. Visitation hours will be Monday and Tuesday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Tuesday, January 28, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, January 29, 2014 from the church with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Drake, Vincent Rodriguez II, Andy Martinez, Ron Gauna, Sandy Martinez, David Gauna, Mauricio Contreras, and Michael Aultman.
