Maria Ida Perea

Maria Ida Perea, age 64, of Santa Rosa passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2013 at her residence following an illness. Maria was born on November 28, 1948 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Juan De Dios and Mela (Gonzales) Perea. She was reared and attended schools in Santa Rosa graduating from Santa Rosa High School in 1967. Maria worked for the New Mexico State Police for several years as a dispatcher. She served in the United States Army for several years and returned to Santa Rosa following her honorable discharge. Maria was a parishioner at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. She enjoyed writing and visiting with her nieces and nephews. Maria is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Mela Perea, her sister Adelina Perea-Lopez and her brother Gilbert A. Perea. Survivors include 7 sisters and 2 brothers, Rosalie Perea, Dilia Ulibarri of Santa Rosa, Jane Sanchez and husband Deacon Reyes of Las Vegas, NM, Gloria Gage and husband Ron, Lucy Flores and husband Ken, Barbara Sena and husband Earl, Betty Jo Moncayo , John Perea and wife Veronica, Richard Perea and wife Julia all of Santa Rosa. Also surviving is her Paternal Aunt Yolanda Aragon and husband Ernie of Tucumcari, Maternal Aunt Josie Roybal and husband Augustine of Santa Fe as well as numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary and Funeral Mass were held Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 3:00 PM from St. Rose of Lima Church, Father Thomas Kayammakal officiated. Burial followed in the Perea Family Plot at St. Joseph Cemetery. Pallbearers were her nephews and nieces, Ricardo Sena, K. J. Flores, Anthony Moncayo, Joesph Lopez III, Ronnie Gage, Lawrence Sanchez, Joyce Ulibarri and Juan Perea. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers were all her nieces and nephews.
