Rumaldo Garcia, 73 a longtime Hereford, Texas resident passed away Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo following an illness. Rumaldo was born April 19, 1940 in Fort Sumner, NM to the home of Merejildo Garcia and the former Francesquita Aragon. He attended and graduated from Fort Sumner High School. He made his home in Lubbock in 1959. Rumaldo was united in marriage to Josephine Martinez on April 8, 1961 in Lubbock. Rumaldo worked for 12 years as a U.S.D.A. Meat Inspector. Rumaldo and Josephine made their home in Hereford in 1970, he was self employed for many years, beginning in 1986 he owned and operated Ideal Rentals and for over 30 years owned Garcia Bail Bonds, and he also owned and operated two auto sales locations, Hereford Auto Plaza and Amarillo Auto Plaza. Rumaldo was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Hereford, American G.I. Forum, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Knights of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons Andrew Garcia in 2012, and John Paul Garcia in 1963 along with several brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife Josephine “Jo” Garcia of the family home in Hereford, TX, a son Daniel Garcia and wife Shawna of Ardmore, OK; three daughters Diana Lucero of Amarillo; Cecilia San Miguel and husband Ruben of Canyon, TX; Patricia Baeza and husband Johnny of Plainview, TX; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Visitation hours will be Tuesday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Tuesday, October 22, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church (First & Richards Street) in Fort Sumner, NM. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am Wednesday, October 23, 2013 from the church with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Ramirez, Elisha Garcia, Michael San Miguel, John Merejildo Garcia, Joshua Ramirez, and Eric San Miguel. Honorary bearers will include Beatrice Lucero, Christa Garcia Dill, Maria Keith, Michele Cordova, Brittany Garcia, and Miranda San Miguel.
