Services for Patsy (Hawthorne) Lucero, 55 of Fort Sumner, NM will be held at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner on Friday, July 26, 2013. The Rosary will be recited at 10:00 am followed by the funeral Mass. Burial will be at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Father Paul Nkumbi will officiate. Pallbearers will include Cameron Lucero, Christopher Lucero, Chandler Lucero, Clayton Lucero, Jacobo Ortiz, Paul Lucero, and Eddie Lucero. Patsy passed away Saturday, July 20, 2013 at Texas Specialty Hospital in Lubbock, TX following an illness. She was born September 25, 1957 in Farmington, NM to the home of Afton A. and Edna (Munns) Hawthorne. She attended school in Fort Sumner, NM. Patsy worked for many years as a Detention Officer and Emergency Medical Dispatcher for De Baca County. She also worked for several years as a Security Supervisor for BNSF Railroad. Patsy was a longtime member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner. She is preceded in death by her mother Edna Propps in 1980, her father Afton Hawthorne in 2012 and a sister Ellen Hawthorne in 1962. Patsy is survived by a daughter Maria Lorraine Lucero of Clovis, four grandsons, Christopher, Cameron, Chandler, and Clayton Lucero; four brothers Jimmy Hawthorne of Detroit, Michigan, Melton Hawthorne, Wesley Propps, and Chad Roybal and wife Mary Ann all of Fort Sumner, one sister Sheryle Rene Meister of Boise City, OK, and a step-brother Justin Pate of Nebraska. Also surviving is an uncle Bill Jaynes and aunts Carolyn Salter both of Albuquerque, Martha Lamon, Ella Sandefer, and Vee Gammill of Amarillo, TX, along with an extended Lucero family a host of other relatives and many friends.
