Richard A. Byrd

Richard A. Byrd, 64, of Vaughn, NM, passed away on Friday June 28, 2013 at the family ranch. Richard “Dick” was born in Amarillo, TX on June 24, 1949 to Bob H. and the late Bettye Byrd. He grew up on the family’s ranch in Vaughn, NM with brothers Bob Jr. and Mike. Dick attended high school at the New Mexico Military Institute in Roswell and graduated from college at the University of New Mexico with a degree in history. Dick married Judith L. Sadowski on June 10, 1972 in Peru, Illinois. They made their home at the family ranch in Vaughn where they raised cattle, sheep, and horses. Dick is survived by his wife Judy, sons Robbie and wife Margret, Jason and his granddaughter Bree, as well as numerous family and friends. Funeral services will be held at the New Mexico Military Institute Chapel on July 5, 2013 at 10:00 am with burial to follow at South Park Cemetery in Roswell.
