Spence Ezekiel Morris

Spence E. Morris, 97 a lifelong resident of House, NM died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at his home. He was born February 1, 1916 in House, NM to the home of Clinton and Bertha (Loring) Morris. Spence attended House High School. He married Clarice Laverne Carpenter on September 3, 1938 in Tucumcari, NM. He was a longtime Quay County farmer. He enjoyed treasure hunting and had a skill for water dowsing. Spence is preceded in death by his parents, a son Robby Morris in 1974, daughter Nancy Jones in 2010, and two sisters Beryl Morris and Pearl Morris. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and good neighbor. He will be missed by his wife of 74 years Clarice Laverne Morris of the family home in House, three daughters Clarice Hendricks and husband Lewis of Kalispell, Montana, Sue Morris of Midland, TX, Kathy O'Bryant of Las Vegas, NV, two sons Rick Morris and wife Sara of Clovis, NM, Ronny Morris of House, NM, a brother Pete Morris of Houston, TX, a sister Gay Blair of Albuquerque, 10 grandchildren including Zane Morris, Avery Morris and Maddox Morris grandsons who will continue to carry on the Morris family name, 6 great grandchildren, 7 nieces and nephews along with other relatives, friends and good neighbors. The family requests memorials in Spence's memory to the House Senior Center, P.O. Box 682, House, NM 88121. Visitation hours will be Saturday from 1pm to 6pm at the funeral home. Graveside services will be held at the House Community Cemetery, 2:00 pm Sunday, June 2, 2013, with Rev. Sherman Martin officiating.
