Martin Arsenio Duran, 46 beloved son of Arsenio and Beatrice Duran passed away on May 22, 2013 in Puyallup, WA. Martin was born April 5, 1967 in Santa Rosa, NM. Following graduation from Vaughn High School in 1985, Martin went on to live an extraordinary life, touching the hearts of many of the people he encountered along the way. He was dedicated and successful in all of his pursuits both professionally and personally. He began a long career in public service when he joined the army after graduation. Upon an honorable discharge, he began working for an ambulance service. From there he was hired by Bernalillo County Fire Department and worked as a paramedic before answering the call to his true passion, law enforcement. After working as a Deputy Sheriff for Valencia County for several years, he was overwhelmingly excited to make the move to Washington State to continue his work as a Deputy Sheriff for King County Sheriff’s Department in 2004. He remained with the King County Sheriff’s Department until his death. Although Martin was a very private individual he could often be heard speaking proudly of his children. Martin recently had the honor of badging his son upon his own graduation from the Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Department. It was an extremely proud moment for both. In his personal life, Martin enjoyed many things. He found the most joy in tinkering with his gun collection, watching movies with his family and spending time outdoors. His greatest passion was riding his motorcycle on a warm, sunny day, leaving all of his cares behind and feeling the warm wind upon his face. He is survived by his wife Alysia, son Mikal, daughter Michelle, his parents Arsenio and Beatrice Duran of Vaughn, sister Brenda Berumen, brother-in-law Ricardo Berumen, nephews Ricky, Nicko and Morgan and many, many beloved family members. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, May 31, 2013 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM.
