Olen Larry Taylor, age 65, passed away on May 18, 2013 in Albuquerque following a sudden illness. He was born on December 30, 1947 in Las Vegas, NM to the home of Olen F “Tex” and Jewell (Johnson) Taylor. He worked for various ranches and he worked with his father at Tex Boot and Saddle Shop. Larry was a true western artist. Even with his visual handicap, he was able to paint and sculpt. He enjoyed painting, leather craft and being a cowboy. Larry is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his Aunt Willie Johnson of Fort Sumner, his Uncle Tom Johnson of Santa Rosa along with many cousins and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service to celebrate Larry’s life will be held on Friday, May 24, at 11:00 from the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa with Mr. Beau Lamb Officiating. Burial of Larry’s cremains will be held at a later date at Mt. Zion Cemetery in Alamo, NM alongside his parents. All services for Larry have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
