Jimmie Dee Fox, 44 a lifelong resident of Fort Sumner died Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at her home. She was born January 6, 1969 in Portales, NM the daughter of Jimmy Harold Fox and the former LaHonda Jane Prather. Jimmie Dee attended Fort Sumner schools where she served at the team manager for the school basketball teams. She graduated in 1987, and then attended South Plains Junior College in Levelland, TX and later a computer school in Albuquerque. For the past six years she was employed as a Behavioral Management Specialist for Team Builders in Fort Sumner. She was an active member of the Fort Sumner community and dedicated her time to the De Baca County 4-H program where she served as a 4-H leader, President of the De Baca County Fair Board, Chairman of the Old Fort Days Rodeo, and served as Chairman of the De Baca County Democratic Party. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, and the Valley Quilting Club. She served as Beef Superintendent for the NM State Fair, and was appointed by Governor Bill Richardson to the Eastern Plains Housing Authority. On May 14, 2013 Jimmie Dee was appointed to the State Finance Committee by NM Democratic Chairman, Sam Bregman. Jimmie Dee was a member of the Professional Bull Riders Association, she loved Professional Bull Riding and knew every bull rider and rodeo bull by name. Jimmie Dee is preceded in death by her mother LaHonda Fox, maternal grandparents Earl and Bobbye Cross, paternal grandparents J.D. and Ada Mae Fox, an Uncle Owen Fox and an Aunt Carolyn Beverage. Survivors include her father Jimmy H. Fox of Fort Sumner, a sister Robbie Andes of Portales, brother Rick and wife Sondra “Sam” Andes of Clovis, two aunts, Maurcenia Cross and husband Gary of Fort Sumner, Cloreta Hawk and husband Weldon of Clovis, two nephews Shane Andes and wife Christina of White Sulpher Springs, MT, Cole Andes and wife Nicole of Los Lunas, two great-nieces Faith and Jorden Andes and a great-nephew Bryce Andes all of Montana. Also surviving is a cousin raised in the family home, Tell Montoya of Artesia, NM along with several cousins, other relatives and many friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, May 18, 2013 at The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner with Sister Anna Teeter officiating; burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kevin Grant, Leslie Armstrong, Bill Wertheim, Jerry Sharp, Buster Webb, Guy Winters, Tell Montoya, Shane Andes, and Cole Andes. Honorary bearers will be members of the De Baca County Fair Board, All past and current members of the 4-H, De Baca County Rodeo Committee, and all her many friends throughout the rodeo industry. The family requests memorial contributions in Jimmie Dee’s memory to the following organizations she supported, De Baca County 4-H Club 248 E. Avenue C, Fort Sumner, NM 88119, The Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, NM 88130, De Baca County Chamber of Commerce (Old Fort Day’s Rodeo), or the De Baca County Democratic Party. Visitation hours will be Friday from 1pm to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to noon at the funeral home. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
