Doug Harrison

William Douglas “Doug: Harrison, age 79, passed away on May 8, 2013 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following a sudden illness. Doug was born on June 4, 1933 in Newkirk, NM to the home of William Lesley and Nora (Yates) Harrison. He was reared in Newkirk, Cuervo and at the age of 12 his family moved to Santa Rosa where he graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1950. Doug served in the United State Army as a Corporal from 1954 until 1956. He married Bobbie Perkins on October 20, 1958 in Fruitland, NM. Doug along with his father owned and operated Santa Rosa Welding Shop for many years, he worked for Walter Gensler and Chief Motor Company, he also owned an International Delaership and a Diesel Mechanic Shop. Doug was also a truck driver for many years with Cal Gas which later became PTI where he retired in 2003. Doug and Bobbie were faithful members of the First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a longtime member of the New Mexico Mounted Patrol. Doug loved antique tractors, working on cars, welding but most of all hanging out with his kids. He is preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Joshua Allen Harrison. Survivors include his wife Bobbie of the family home in Santa Rosa, his sons, Lee Harrison of Santa Rosa, Bobby Harrison and his wife Lisa of League City, TX, William D. Harrison and wife Michelle of Los Chavez, NM, Ralph Harrison and wife Wanda of Santa Rosa, his grandchildren, Lee Ray Harrison, Christopher Harrison, Joshua Harrison, Justin Harrison and Krista Harrison, great grandchildren, Kylee Harrison, Jeremiah Harrison, Taylor Harrison, Mason Harrsion, Raegen Harrison. Also surviving are his brothers Ed Harrison and wife Alice of Amarillo, TX, Robert Harrison and wife Jodi of Ruidoso, NM along with numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 13, at 10:00 AM from the First Baptist Church in Santa Rosa with Mr. Beau Lamb officiating. Burial will follow at the Cuervo Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be his grandchildren. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be Merle Guinn and Don Thompson. In Lieu of flowers the family request that donation be made to the NM Baptist Children’s Home, P.O. Box 629, Portales, NM or the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 446, Santa Rosa, NM.
