Samuel H. Hopkins, age 66, passed away on April, 6, 2013 at the Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following a brief illness. Samuel was born on March 20, 1947 in Salem, Massachusetts to the home of Jerome and Janet (Ingalls) Hopkins. Samuel grew up in Essex where he and Sandra were married on October 23, 1985. They moved to Mariaville ME and then to Lakeport, CA where he owned and managed the Rainbow Motel. He had many occupations throughout his lifetime. He was a florist, exterminator, bartender and a small business owner. Samuel was always active in his community in Essex where he served on the Planning Board where he worked diligently on the program. He was active in the 4H Program and was instrumental in starting the 4H Sports Program in Hancock County, ME. Sam loved his garden and his beloved dog Crissy. He loved the outdoors, his plants and his little house on the prairie. He and Sandra made their home in Santa Rosa in 2002. In the last few years his most important job has been Papo to his beloved grandson Michael Bailey. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife Sandra of the family home in Santa Rosa, daughter Barbara Bailey, grandson Michael Connor Bailey also of Santa Rosa, a step-daughter Elizabeth Bailey, granddaughter Melinda of Lowell, Mass, stepson William Bailey and family of Haverhill, Mass, his brother Richard Hopkins and wife Cheryl of Topsfield, Mass, nieces and nephews, Carla Adams and husband Rich, great niece and nephew Heather and Kevin all of Essex, Mass, Tom Hopkins and wife Marcie, great niece Janet all of New Bedford, Mass and Betsy Hopkins of North Androve, Mass, his sister Meredith Wallace and Husband Vern of Santa Cruz, CA, his nieces and nephews Cindy, Scott and Eric all of California. Cremation had taken place and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at 11:00 AM from the First United Methodist Church in Santa Rosa with Mr. Ernest Copeland officiating. Another Memorial service will be held in Esex, MASS on a future date. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Scholarship fund, P.O.
