Frederick Clarence "F.C." Riley died Thursday, March 14, 2013 at his ranch home south of Taiban. He was born in Buchanan, NM on January 13, 1928 to the home of Vance Dan Riley and the former Willie Lee Turner. F.C. attended school at Taiban, NM until the eighth grade, then attended Fort Sumner schools where he graduated in 1948. F.C. married Wanda Lee Moss, on September 10, 1949 in Clovis, NM. F.C. was a lifelong cattle rancher and made his home on the family ranch 25 miles south of Taiban at the age of two. He worked at Clovis Livestock Barn for several years, he also worked for Price Cattle Ranch, and several years on feedlots. F.C. was baptized in the Church of Christ. He is a past member of the American Quarter Horse Association. According to F.C. his favorite past times were feeding the cows, watching the grass grow, and watching the rain. He is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Lee Riley in 2006, his parents, a sister Bessie Lee Riley and a son-in-law Bill Dewbre in 2012. Survivors include three daughters, Rebecca Melton of Fort Sumner, Margaret York and husband Stanley of the Riley Ranch south of Taiban, and Catherine Dewbre of Fort Sumner. Two grandchildren Ray Melton and Stanley York Jr. also survive along with five great-grandchildren. Visitation hours are Friday from 1pm to 6pm and Saturday from 10am to 12:30 pm. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, March 16, 2013 at Blanco Cemetery, 15 miles south of Taiban, NM with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Pallbearers will be Ray Melton, Stanley York Jr, Rodney McClain, Monte Best, Bob Townsend, and Ernest Riley. Honorary bearers will be Stanley York Sr., and Winn Riley.
