Services for Floyd Kenneth "Ken" Ryen, 69, of Lake Sumner, NM will be held at 2:00 pm, Friday, March 22, 2013 at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Sumner, NM. Ken died Monday, March 11, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Amarillo, Texas following an illness. He was born May 29, 1943 in Rochester, PA to the home of Floyd C. and Dorothy (Ditemen) Ryen. Ken served in the U.S. Air Force with the 832nd Tactical Hospital Unit. He was honorably discharged on April 4, 1963. He was a member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order Eagles in Fort Sumner, NM. Ken worked for many years in the building construction business as a contractor. Ken made his home in Lubbock, TX from 1989-1997, Ruidoso, NM from 1997-2001, and Lake Sumner, NM from 2001 until present. Ken loved fishing, hunting, and most of all camping with his family. He was active in the community. Ken is preceded in death by his father Floyd Ryen and two daughters, Nita Ryen and Sherry Ann Ryen. Survivors include his mother Dorothy Ryen in Punsutawney PA, three daughters Chana Ryen and Jerry Sena of Clovis, Sheila Ryen of Portales, Amberly Sweat of Las Cruces, six sons Wayne Ryen and Angie Lane of Ruidoso, Gary Ryen and wife Sharla of Midland, TX, Allan Ryen and wife Kim of Ruidoso, Steven Ryen and wife Diane of Roswell, Kenny Ryen and wife Michelle of Ruidoso, and Cody Ryen and wife Eva of Tucumcari, also surviving are 29 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, three sisters, Shirley Rainey, Barbara Keller, and Diane Pretznel, two brothers Don Ryen and John Ryen. Services arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N. Fifth Street; Fort Sumner, New Mexico. (575) 355-2311.
