Phillip Virgil Aragon

A memorial Mass for Phillip Virgil Aragon, 39 of Portales, NM will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, February 28, 2013 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Phillip died Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX following a short illness. He was born April 25, 1973 in Fort Sumner to the home of Arcenio and Nora (Coronado) Aragon. Phillip attended schools in Fort Sumner and Portales, NM. He was self employed for many years in the building construction business. He made his home in Portales for the past three years. He loved music, was a great mechanic, and enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. Phillip is preceded in death by his mother, Nora Aragon on June 16, 1991, his father Arsenio Aragon, and his maternal grandparents, Antonio and Rosa Coronado. Survivors include his fiancée Diane Escalante, a daughter Haley Aragon and two sons Phillip Aragon and Evan Aragon all of Portales, one sister Donna Hanley and husband Pat of Rhode Island, five brothers Ronnie (Sandra) Aragon of St. Louis, MO, Tommy (Marcella) Aragon of Santa Rosa, Randy (Julie) Aragon of Sacramento, CA, Archie (Sandy) Aragon of Yuma, AZ and Billy (Darla) Aragon of Yuma, AZ. Also surviving are two aunts, Gloria (Richard) Sena of Fort Sumner, and Tina Coronado of Portales, NM, two uncles Tony Coronado of Clovis, and Leroy (Diane) Coronado of Artesia along with a host of cousins, other relatives and many friends.
