Leatriz Chavez

Leatriz W. Chavez, age 39, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2013 surrounded by her family at Presbyterian Hospital. Leatriz was born on July 26, 1973 in Las Vegas, NM to the home of Rumaldo Ruiz and Juanita Hern. She was reared in Anton Chico and Santa Rosa where she graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1991. She married Robert G. Chavez on June 28, 1994. Leatriz worked as a manager at the Subway for many years until her health started to deteriorate. She enjoyed reading and camping. Leatriz fought her cancer with courage and great strength and never gave up. She is preceded in death by her mother Juanita Hern, her mother and father in law, Nestor and Diane Chavez. Survivors include her husband Robert, her children, Marcus and Ayliah all of the family home in Santa Rosa. Her sisters, Hope Melendez and husband Issac of Kenosha, WI, and Beatriz Hern of Santa Rosa and her brother Brian Brown of Clovis, her father Rumaldo Ruiz of Anton Chico as well as numerous in-law’s, nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Cremation has taken place and rosary services will be held on Saturday, February 2, at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church. Memorial Mass will be celebrated immediately after the rosary. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her nieces and nephews. All services for Leatriz have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
