.George Garnand, 73, a longtime Corona resident passed away on December 27, 2012 at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. George was born on August 5, 1939 in Milagro, NM to the home of Benjamin and Maria Hilaria (Selgado) Garnand. He married Dora Romero on July 1958. George drove the school bus for the Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools for many years, he also worked for Sysco Trucking Co. but his passion was being a cowboy and rancher. George was a member of the St. Theresa Catholic Church in Corona. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dora and his brother Narciso. Survivors include his daughter Denise Garnand of Los Lunas, his grandchildren, Samantha Garnand and Angelo Carrasco also of Los Lunas, his brothers and sisters, Joe Alex Garnand and wife Esther of Albuquerque, David Garnand and wife Lena of Deming, Chris Garnand and wife Grace of Albuquerque, Duane Garnand and wife Becky of Los Lunas, Billy Garnand and wife Viola of Albuquerque, Robert Garnand and wife Clara of Albuquerque, Mary McKinstry of Albuquerque and Elizabeth Felix and husband Benito of Albuquerque. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends. Rosary services will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2012 at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church in Santa Rosa. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the Rosary with Father Thomas Kayammakal officiating. Burial will follow at the Milagro Cemetery. Serving as Pallbearers will be, Angelo Carrasco, Ruben Martinez, Leon Garnand, Daniel Garnand, Mark Garnand and Xavier Garnand.
