DeAnna Sue Foster

DeAnna Foster, 48 of Fort Sumner died Thursday, December 13, 2012 at her home following an illness. Her family was at her bedside. DeAnna was born November 15, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Ernesto Chavez and Maria Adelaida Lopez. She grew up in Pacific, Missouri where she attended and graduated from Pacific High School. She worked for several years as a sales clerk for Toys R Us and also worked as a Home Health Care Provider. DeAnna made her home in Fort Sumner in 1986 and was a member of The Church on The Hill in Fort Sumner. She enjoyed listening to all types of music, reading, and bowling. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Max and Lillie Lopez and her paternal grandparents Christino and Magdalena Chavez. Survivors include five daughters, Stephanie Lopez, Jessica Barton, and Rachael Chavez of Portales; Elizabeth McConnell of Fort Sumner, and Christina McConnell of Albuquerque. Also surviving is her mother Maria Garcia of Fort Sumner, her father Ernesto Chavez of St. Louis, Missouri; a sister Eva Chavez, and a brother Ernesto Chavez II both of Fort Sumner. Four grandchildren also survive Tianna Lopez, Analicia Aragon, Santiago Aragon, and Lillianna Kenyon all of Portales along with several aunts, uncles, many other relatives and a host of friends. Visitation hours for family and friends will be Sunday, Dec. 16, 2012 from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, December 17, 2012 at Fort Sumner Cemetery with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. All arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner, NM.
