Adolfo C. Serrano, age 99, passed away on November 18, 2012 at the Senior Community Services Assisted Living in Santa Rosa following an illness. Adolfo was born July 16, 1913 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Simon and Petrita (Chavez) Serrano and was reared by his uncle and aunt Martin and Petrita Giddings Serrano. He married Margie Reeves on December 21, 1938 in Santa Rosa, NM Adolfo served as the Guadalupe County Assessor and Guadalupe County Deputy Sheriff for several years. He ran a gas station and most recently Chief Auto Parts for many years. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Parish, the Lions Club, and New Mexico Cattle Growers Association and served on the Board of Public Works for the City of Santa Rosa for 40 plus years. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margie, brothers and sisters, Luciano Serrano, Simon Serrano, Zulema Nichols, Luis P. Serrano, Frank B. Serrano and Eslinda Sanchez, his brother and sisters in law, Mary Serrano, Pita Serrano, Tom Nichols, Ofelia Serrano, Antonia Serrano, Speedy Sanchez and Nap Romo. Survivors include his brothers and sister, Zolio Serrano and wife Vicky of Albuquerque, Alice Romo of Coppell, TX, Robert E. Serrano of Santa Rosa, Charlie Serrano and wife Angie of Santa Rosa and a sister in Law, Dulce Serrano of Amarillo, TX along with numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Cremation will take place and a Memorial Rosary will be celebrated on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 10:00 AM from St. Rose of Lima Church with the Funeral Mass celebrated immediately after the rosary. Burial of cremains will follow at La Morada Cemetery in Santa Rosa. All services for Mr. Serrano have been entrusted to the Chavez Funeral Home of Santa Rosa.
