On November 14, 2012, long-time Fort Sumner resident, Faviola Sena, 90 years of age, peacefully passed from this life to her eternal life with Jesus Christ. Faviola, was born April 14, 1922 in Evanola, NM. She was one of nine children born to the home of Emiliano and Claudita (Sandoval) Gauna. She grew up in Ricardo, New Mexico where she attended school. Faviola worked at the Fort Sumner School Cafeteria and the K-Star Motel. Faviola enjoyed baking goodies for her family to enjoy. She gave of her time serving The Church on the Hill where she was an active member. One of Faviola’s many gifts was that she was a servant. Not only did she serve at her church, she gave of herself to many others, including helping to raise and care for her many grandchildren. On August 14, 1946, Faviola and Roman “R.T.” Sena were married in Fort Sumner, New Mexico, together they built an everlasting legacy for their family. Having been married 66 years, they leave an incredible gift of love to their family. Continuing near the day of Faviola’s departure of this life, they continued to laugh, enjoy each other’s company, hold hands, share kisses and share daily “I Love You's”. Faviola is survived by her husband, R.T. Sena of the home in Fort Sumner; one son, James Allan (Esther) Dunn of Fort Sumner, NM; five daughters: Dolores Ortega of Santa Rosa, NM; Ruby (George) Gonzales of Fort Sumner, NM, Angie (Mariano) Mares of Roswell, NM; Jean (Paul) Chavez of Albuquerque, NM and Reba (Rudy) Casaus of Santa Rosa, NM; one son-in-law, Rafael Roybal, one daughter-in-law, Vivian Sena; one sister Cora Barela all of Clovis, NM; and a sister-in-law Cleo Gauna of Friona, TX. Faviola took great pride in the fact that she left surviving her 29 grandchildren, 63 great-grandchildren and 19 great-great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Also surviving Faviola is her caretaker, Jodie Jacks, who Faviola often referred to as her “sweetheart”. Faviola was preceded in death by her first husband, James Dunn, three of her children Edward Sena, Jesse Sena and Lucy Roybal; two sons-in-law, George Ortega and Larry Roybal, one daughter-in-law, Gwen Sena, two great-granddaughters, Alexa Roybal and Mary Yvonne Dunn, her brothers: Enriquez Gauna, Eugenio Gauna, Pat Gauna, Eloy Gauna and Lucio Gauna and her sisters: Nona Samora, Rosa Mares, and Mary Barela, Faviola was a tremendous pillar of strength for her family and “Her children (and grandchildren) rise up and call her blessed, and her husband also, and he praises her.” Proverbs 31:28 Visitation hours are Friday from 11AM to 6PM at the funeral home. Celebration services for Faviola Sena will take place on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10am at the Church on the Hill in Fort Sumner, New Mexico with Sister Anna Teeter officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers are Jerome Sena, Billy Joe Dunn, Richard Gonzales, Gerald Ortega, Christopher Chavez, Curtis Chavez, Gino Sena, Christian Sena, Larry Roybal and July Jones.
