Candido "Candy" Lucero

Aristeo Candido "Candy" Lucero, 75 of Milagro, NM died Monday, October 29, 2012 at Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque following an illness. He was born September 3, 1937 in Milagro to the home of Candido and Carolina (Maes) Lucero. He was raised and attended school in Milagro. Candido married Candelaria Ignacia Baca in 1964 at Santa Rosa. Candido ranched for many years in the Milagro area, he worked for the NM Highway Department for several years including a few years as Maintenance at the Rest Area west of Santa Rosa. For 26 years he was a contract bus driver for Santa Rosa Consolidated Schools. He retired in 1996. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa and Our Lady of Sorrows Mission in Milagro. He enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours cutting, gathering wood and caring for his livestock. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Candido was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Luis Lucero and two sisters Frances Marquez and Mary Ann Sisneros. Survivors include his wife Candelaria of the home in Milagro, two daughters, Shirley Lucero of Albuquerque, Darlene Lucero of Las Vegas, NM, five sons Lawrance Lucero of Tucson, AZ, Severo (Christina Apodaca) Lucero of Santa Rosa, NM, Fredrick Lucero of Las Vegas, NM, Christopher Lucero of Milagro, and Terry Lucero of Milagro, NM. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, three sisters Otilia Muniz of Santa Rosa, Dora Sisneros of Pueblo, CO and Alice Armijo of Clovis, NM one brother Patricio Lucero of Milagro along with a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Rosary services will be held at 7:00 PM Friday, November 2, 2012 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Santa Rosa, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, November 3, 2012 from St. Rose of Lima with burial following at Our Lady of Sorrows Cemetery in Milagro, NM. Pallbearers will include George Marquez, Michael Muniz, David Armijo, Phillip Sisneros, Rudy Marquez, and Pat Lucero Jr. Honorary bearers will be all his many friends and his grandchildren.
