Bobbye Wright

Bobbye Wright, 87 of Fort Sumner, NM died Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Heartland Continuing Care Center in Portales, NM following an illness. Bobbye was born February 8, 1925 in Fort Sumner to the home of Lon Conard and Gertrude (Baker) Barnhart. She attended and graduated from Fort Sumner High School. Bobbye married Byron O’Lester Wright on September 28, 1946 in Santa Rosa, NM. She was employed for many years with Eastern New Mexico Gas Company in Fort Sumner. Bobbye served on the De Baca General Hospital Board for several years and on the De Baca County DWI Council. She was a member of a Bridge Club in Fort Sumner for many years. Bobbye was a longtime member of the Fort Sumner Church of Christ. She enjoyed reading, working on word puzzles and spending time in her yard and garden. Bobbye is preceded in death by her husband in 2005, her parents, a brother Logan Barnhart and a sister Ruby Jones. Survivors include a son Jon Donal Wright of Fort Sumner, a granddaughter Moneek Alvarado and husband Felipe of Clovis, NM; great-granddaughter Roxanne Alvarado of Clovis. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews including Beryl McAlister and husband Paul of Clovis, Trudy Stovall of Big Springs, TX, and John Wright of Loving, NM, and many longtime friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012 from 1PM to 6PM at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the Chavez Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tom Oliver officiating, burial will follow at Fort Sumner Cemetery. Pallbearers will include Felipe Alvarado, Bill West, Frank Perez, Jim Hamon, Keegan McMain, Knox Cortese, Donovan Ulibarri, Stan Hobbs and Powhatan Carter.
