"AUNTIE EMMA" Emalina Corrina Panebouef age 84 a resident of Vaughn, N.M. was born in Vaughn on April 2, 1928 and died in Roswell, on September 7, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of Carlos Panebouef from Anton Chico, N.M. and Eugenia Samora From Puerto de Luna N.M. She was a 1946 Graduate of Vaughn Municipal Schools and attended Browning Commercial Business College in Albuquerque. She was also a finalist for the Miss New Mexico Beauty Pageant in 1947. She was married to Florencio Florez in Lincoln, N.M. in 1950. She ran Ramon Bar, Cafe and Service Station located between Roswell and Vaughn, for many years and retired in Vaughn early 1980s. Her tending to her garden and taking her dogs for a ride in her car thru Vaughn were some of her favorite things to do. And of course the horse races.... Emma was the Matriarch of the Panebouef Family. She is the last of the second American born generation. Her grandfather Leon Panebouef came to NM with Archbishop Lamy circa 1850 and settled in Anton Chico. Leon Panebouef came from Toulouse, France originally. Emma had no children of her own, however she is best known for having raised her sister Mary Jane's 3 children Charlie, Sandra and Yvonne and a great niece Danica Panebouef. She is survived by her nieces and nephews Charles Alfred & Antonia Panebouef & Family, Sandra R. & Pete Ulibarri & family, Yvonne P. & Nazim Hindi, & Danica Panebouef & Family. She is preceded by her parents Eugenia and Carlos Panebouef, a brother Carlitos Panebouef, a sister Mary Jane Panebouef and her husband Florencio Florez. Pallbearers are her great nieces and nephews, Peter Ulibarri, Tara U. Nieto, Albert Ulibarri, Brian Panebouef, Brandy Arnold, Danielle Panebouef, and Devon Panebouef. Rosary Services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Sunday, September 9, 2012 from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Vaughn, NM. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the church at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 10, 2012 with Father Paul Nkumbi officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Vaughn, New Mexico.
