Isidoro Ricardo Chavez

Isidoro R. Chavez, age 50, of Fort Sumner, NM died Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. Isidoro was born August 18, 1961 in Santa Rosa, NM the son of Antonio and Magdalena (Marquez) Chavez. He was raised in Puerto De Luna, NM, attended and graduated from Santa Rosa High School in 1979. Isidoro enjoyed reading, fishing and being outdoors. Doro worked in road construction for several years. He was a member of Nuestra Senora De Refugio Catholic Church in Puerto De Luna. Isidoro served several years with the New Mexico National Guard. He made his home in Santa Rosa, Tucumcari, and for the past five years in Fort Sumner. Isidoro is preceded in death by his wife Cloressa Kay Chavez on June 1, 2008, his parents Antonio and Magdalena Chavez, five brothers Tony Chavez Jr., Frank D. Chavez, Joe Nick Chavez, Fred "Fidi" Chavez and an infant brother Baby Joe Chavez; three sisters Lupita Cain, Emma Lopez, and Cresencia Olives. He was also preceded in death by three nephews Robert Wayne Marquez, Jason Marquez, Ernest Marquez, sister-in-law Alice Marquez, and his good friend and cousin Mark Lopez. Survivors include a sister, Martha Chavez of Santa Rosa, NM; three brothers, Juan and wife Barbara Chavez of Fort Sumner, NM; George Marquez of Santa Rosa, NM, Robert Marquez of Fort Sumner; step children Mike Garcia and Lindsey Garcia; aunts Esme Zamora of Panhandle, TX; Rose Lopez of Santa Rosa, NM; Theresa Encinias of Las Vegas, NM sister-in-law Lucy Chavez of Santa Fe, NM; brother-in-law Bob Olives of Albuquerque; along with a host of cousins, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation hours will be held on Friday, June 30, 2012 from 11AM to 6PM at the funeral home, and Saturday from 9AM to 10AM at the church. Rosary services were held at 7:00 PM Friday, June 29, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Mass was held at 10:00 AM Saturday, June 30, 2012 at St. Anthony Parish in Fort Sumner Father Thomas Kayammakal officiated. Burial followed at 2:00 PM at St. Joseph Cemetery in Santa Rosa, NM. Pallbearers were include Billy Lopez, Anthony Chavez, Jerome Encinias, Roque Montano, David Gonzales, Brittany Levario, Joseph Marquez, Johnny Marquez, and Arthur Marquez. Honorary bearers were all his cousins, nephews, other relatives and friends.
