Jimmy Raymond Chavez, age 67, passed away on June 1, 2012 at the V.A. Medical Center Hospice Unit in Albuquerque. James was born on March 21, 1945 in Santa Rosa, NM to the home of Antonio M. and Amelia (Segura) Chavez. At an early age he moved to Tucumcari. Jimmy married Mary Lydia Vigil in 1988 in Tucumcari. They made their home in Logan for the past 24 years. Jimmy was a carpenter and rancher. He loved being at home and taking care of his wife and family. He enjoyed gardening and working on his home. Jimmy was a member of San Antonio Catholic church in Logan and the American legion. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Jimmy Chavez, brother, Elicio Chavez and his nephew, Carlos Baca, Jr. Survivors include his wife Mary Chavez of the family home in Logan, his children, Adrianna Lopez and husband Johnny of Altus, OK, Tony Chavez and wife Marie of Wisconsin, James Raymond Chavez, Jr. of Washington, grandchildren, Aubrey, Tony and Tina. Also surviving are four sisters, Mary Phillips of Logan, Corinne Pulido and husband Andy of San Mateo, CA, Angie Chavez and husband Chris of Logan and Maria Luisa Romero and husband Johnny. He was the beloved Uncle of numerous nieces and nephews. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00 AM, Friday, June 8, 2012, at San Antonio Catholic Church in Logan, NM. Burial followed at the Logan Cemetery. Pallbearers were, Raymond Castro, John Vigil, Pat Vigil, Richard Morales, Lorenzo Romero and Johnny Romero. Honorary Pallbearers included Chris Brown Richard Garcia, Michael Aragon, Kevin Rutherford and Ramiro Castro III,.
