Billy Wayne Dewbre, 73 of Fort Sumner and formerly of Rio Rancho, NM died Thursday, May 17, 2012 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM following an illness. Billy was born January 28, 1939 in Blanchard, Oklahoma to the home of Alton Leroy “Jack” Dewbre and the former Roxie Mae Huskey. He attended schools West of Mountainair, NM; Moore, Oklahoma; and graduated from high school in Bridgecreek, Oklahoma. Billy served in the U.S. Army from August 29, 1958 until his honorable discharge on February 14, 1961. Billy married Catherine Riley on June 1, 1991 in Fort Sumner, NM. Billy worked as a welder in Chickasha, OK for a company that manufactured trailers; he also worked several years for an earth-moving equipment company in Lubbock, TX. Prior to his retirement in 1993 he was self employed as a welder. Billy made his home in Hobbs, NM, Friona, TX and Alamogordo, NM before moving to Rio Rancho in 2000 and to Fort Sumner in 2011. Billy was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Alamogordo, NM. He enjoyed playing golf, baseball, fishing and especially studying his bible. Billy is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Catherine Dewbre of Fort Sumner; two daughters Ginger Nombrana and husband Mario of Jones, OK; Alicia Harrison and husband Peyton of Blanchard, OK and a son Wayne Dewbre and wife Gayle of Blanchard, OK; a sister Jean Lambert of Glen Rose, TX; a brother Jerry Dewbre and wife Katherine of Fort Sumner; five grandchildren Benjamin Nombrana, Josh Nombrana, Andrew Harrison, Ashley Harrison and Dylan Harrison. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, May 19, 2012 at Blanco Cemetery, south of Taiban, NM. Darryl Tennefos, Spritual Director for Vista Care Hospice will officiate. Pallbearers will include Andrew Harrison, Bob Townsend, James Townsend, Ray Melton, Stanley York Jr., and Peyton Harrison. Arrangements are under the direction of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
