SERVICES: 10:00 AM. Friday, April 6, 2012 at First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Field H. Irwin, 59 of Fort Sumner died Monday, April 2, 2012 following an illness. He was born March 14, 1953 in Jordan, Montana the son of Dick and Virginia Irwin. He began his schooling in Montana before moving to Yeso, NM then Fort Sumner, NM where he attended high school. In 1971 he moved to Moriarty, NM where he finished his senior year and graduated from Moriarty High School. He continued his education at NMSU in Las Cruces, NM where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. Field married Sharon Sue Henson on February 5, 1972 in Moriarty. They lived for several years on the Wertheim Rafter X Ranch between Fort Sumner and Santa Rosa. Field also worked for several years at sale barns. In 1983 Field purchased the A-1 Business Service in Fort Sumner from Ruby Blakeley. He thrived doing taxes and bookkeeping until he sold the business and retired in 2006. Field was a member of the First Baptist Church in Moriarty from 1982 until he moved to Fort Sumner where he was a longtime member, taught Sunday School, and served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church. Field was also active in the Fort Sumner community and served as a board member of the Chamber of Commerce, Hospital Board, De Baca County Fair Board, and as a substitute teacher at Fort Sumner Schools. His hobbies included crocheting, quilting, jeweler and working with all sorts of crafts. His family also includes building fence as one of his hobbies. Field is preceded in death by his parents Dick and Jinger Irwin; a nephew Chace Montoya, a granddaughter Hydee Grace Irwin, and a brother in law Jerry Ingram. Survivors include his wife Sharon Irwin of the home in Fort Sumner; a daughter Holly Senetra and husband Wally of Albuquerque; two sons Guy Irwin and wife Melanie of Three Forks, Montana; Levi Irwin and wife Susan of Clayton, NM; three sisters Dickie Irwin of Rialto, CA; Leigh Montoya and husband Facundo of Vian, OK; and Jo Nell Ingram of Ruidoso, NM. Also surviving are four grandchildren Cole Irwin, Megan Irwin, and Elsie Irwin of Three Forks, MT and Lexi Irwin of Clayton, NM along with a host of nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, April 6, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Fort Sumner, NM.
