Dolores M. Gonzales

Dolores Maria Gonzales, 79 of Fort Sumner, NM died Monday February 20, 2012 at Plains Regional Medical Center in Clovis, NM. She was born August 14, 1932 in Newkirk, NM to the home of Max and Patricia (Gonzales) Griego. She married Arturo Gonzales on May 23, 1951 in Fort Sumner, NM. Dolores attended school in Fort Sumner. She worked for many years in the cafeteria at Fort Sumner School’s. She was a member of the Saint Anthony Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed board games, needle work, and quilting. She especially enjoyed spending time with her children, grand and great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Sonny Griego and Danny Griego, and her father and mother in law, Rumaldo and Aurora Gonzales. Survivors include her husband Arturo Gonzales of the family home in Fort Sumner, NM, eleven children; six sons, Albert and wife Dora Gonzales of Colorado, Springs, CO, Tommy and Yvonne Gonzales of Clovis, Davey and wife Carol Gonzales of Clovis, George and wife Kathy Gonzales of Grants, NM, Lewis and wife Denise Gonzales of Fort Sumner, and Timmy and wife Andrea Gonzales of Clovis; five daughters Geneva Gonzales of Clovis, NM, Diana and husband Beto Lopez of Fort Sumner, Rose and husband Jerry Hernandez of Clovis, Geraldine and husband Albert Sena of Fort Sumner, and Christina Gonzales of Fort Sumner; also surviving are two sisters Juanita Aragon of San Leandro, CA and Viola Fischer and Clarence of Pueblo West, CO; a brother Ernie and wife Carolyn Griego of Clovis, NM; two brothers in law Demetrio and Corina Gonzales and Tito Gonzales; a sister in law Corine Casaus; and an aunt Eloisa Lopez all of Fort Sumner, NM. Also surviving are 25 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Visitation hours will be 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Thursday, February 23, 2012 at the Chavez Funeral Home in Fort Sumner. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Fort Sumner, NM. Mass will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, February 24, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Father Sotero A. Sena officiating, burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Her sons will serve as pallbearers, honorary bearers will be all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Arrangements for Mrs. Gonzales are in the care of Chavez Funeral Home, 830 N.
